A person, whether an adult or a minor, is entitled to be registered as a British citizen under s.4B  of the British Nationality Act 1981, as inserted by the Nationality, Immigration and Asylum Act 2002, if:

  • he or she is a British Overseas citizen, a British subject (under the British  Nationality  Act  1981),  a  British  National  (Overseas)  or  a  British protected person; and
  • the Secretary of State is satisfied that he or has no other citizenship or nationality; and
  • the Secretary of State is satisfied that he or she has not renounced, voluntarily relinquished or lost through   action or inaction any citizenship or nationality:
    • for   British   Overseas   citizens,   British   subjects   and   British protected persons - on or after 4 July 2002
    • for British Nationals (Overseas) - on or after 19 March 2009

Registration under s.4B gives  British  citizenship by  descent. Applications under s.4B  should normally be made on Form B(OS).

Our Fee For Your Application For Registration As A British Citizen Under Section 4B

  • We will charge you a fee from £1,500 + VAT for our professional immigration services in relation to your application for registration as a British Citizen under section 4B. The agreed fee will depend on the complexity of your  application and the casework involved in the matter.
  • If you cannot afford to pay our fee in full at the time of instructing us in relation to your matter, you can pay half of the fee at the time of instructing us and rest of the fee can be paid by monthly instalments.
  • The agreed fee will cover all our work until decision by the Home Office on your application for registration as a British Citizen. However, it is pertinent to note that the agreed fee will not cover any disbursements to be incurred by us on your behalf e.g. translation of documents, Home Office fee etc.
